The Ultra Conservative Catholic

Council of Trent

The Council of Trent is very important in our Church history. It was opened in 1545 and closed in 1563.  Three different Popes presided over this eucemencial council and they are: Pope Paul III,  Pope Julius III, and Pius IV. This council was called to refute Protestant Reformation and point out the Protestant heresies. The Biblical cannon was reaffirmed as well as the declaration of the Latin Vulgate being free from docternal error. This was the council that defined and affirmed what the Catholics believe in general, every dogma and doctrine within the Church.
