Pope Pius XII

Pope Pius XII was born Eugenio Maria Giusepe Givoanni Pacelli inMarch of 1876. He was ordained in 1899 and work as Cardinal Secratary of State before his papacy.  Pius XII became Pope after the death of Pope Pius XI in February 1939. His cornation occurred in March of 1939.  During his Papacy, he faced the world during World War II. Pius XII was well known for his liturgy reforms as noted from his encyclical Mediator Dei. He also in encouraged the use of Greek and Hebrew manuscripts when translating the Bible instead of Latin as noted in his encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu. Pius XII also worked with closely and mantained a lasting friendship with a man who would later become a future Pope himself, Pope Paul VI. One of Pius XII last appointments to from from Priest to Bishop was Karol Wojtyla, who would later become Pope John II. Pope Pius XII died in 1958 as was succeeded by Pope John XXIII.
