Pope St. Pius X

St. Pius X was born in 1835 as Giuseppe Melchiorre Sorto. He served as Supreme Pontiff from 1903-1914. He is the last Pope to be cannoized as a saint and the first since Pope Pius V.  Just like his predessor Pope Leo XII, he was a marian Pope and dedicated his life to marian dovotions. Pius X also promulgated such was as the Catechism of St. Pius X, which is still valid and The Code of Canon Law, which was released and decreed in 1917 by his successor Pope Benedict XV. His Holiness was stricken by a heart attack in 1913 and he passed away in failing health in 1914. He was beatified in 1951 and canonized as a Saint in 1954, both by Pope Pius XII. His feast day is August 21 on the Novus Ordo liturgical calender and September 3 on the Traditional Catholic calander.
